PlainStock Privacy Policy

PlainStock · iOS barcode inventory app by Peng Sun
Effective date: October 10, 2026

Short version: PlainStock does not collect any data. Your inventory stays on your iPhone. There is no account, no server, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. Camera frames used for barcode scanning are decoded on-device and are not stored or uploaded. I can’t see your stock, and I have no copy of it.

Who this policy is about

PlainStock is an English iPhone app for keeping a barcode-based inventory on your device (scan in/out, low-stock awareness, and local records). It is made by Peng Sun, an independent developer (“I” or “me” below). This policy covers the PlainStock app and this website page.

What the app stores, and where

To do its job, PlainStock saves what you enter into it: item names, barcodes, quantities, optional notes or cost fields you choose to fill in, stock movements (in/out), and settings such as whether low-stock reminders are enabled after you unlock.

All of this is stored only on your device using Apple’s on-device storage (SwiftData). PlainStock has no backend server and no account system, and it does not send your inventory data anywhere. I never receive it.

What is not collected

PlainStock does not collect, and I do not receive, any personal data or usage data. Specifically, the app contains:

The app works offline. Apart from the optional in-app purchase described below (handled by Apple), it does not make network requests for your inventory.

Local notifications

If you unlock PlainStock and turn on low-stock reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device through iOS. There is no PlainStock push server. Notification content and schedules stay on your phone; I do not receive them.

In-app purchase

PlainStock offers one optional, one-time unlock purchase (not a subscription), typically priced at $4.99 USD in the App Store. Free use includes up to 20 items and 50 stock movements. The unlock removes those limits and enables low-stock local notifications and CSV export/import.

Buying and restoring the unlock are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit / the App Store. I do not receive your name, email address, or payment details. Apple’s handling of that information is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

When you export or import CSV

With the unlock, you can export inventory and movement CSV files and send them through the iOS share sheet. The files go only where you choose (for example Files, Mail, or Messages). From then on they are handled by that app or service and by whoever receives them. Import reads a CSV you pick; PlainStock does not upload those files to me.

Device backups

PlainStock has no cloud sync of its own. If you back up your iPhone with iCloud Backup or to a computer, iOS may include PlainStock’s data in that backup, as it does for most apps. Those backups are created and stored by Apple or on your own computer, under your control and settings, not by me.

Deleting your data

Because your data exists only on your device, you control it directly:

I can’t delete or recover your data for you, because I don’t have it.

Children

PlainStock does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of PlainStock changes how data is handled (for example, an optional iCloud sync feature), I will update this page and its effective date before that version is released, and describe the change here. The current version is always at https://plainstock.pudmi.com/privacy.
