PlainStock Support
Need help? Email plainstock@pudmi.com. PlainStock is made by one person, so replies may take a few days. It helps to include your iPhone model, iOS version, and the PlainStock version (shown in Settings in the app).
Getting started
- Open Stock to see your items. Add an item manually or go to Scan.
- On Scan, point the camera at a barcode (or type it in). Known codes can stock in or out; new codes can create an item with the barcode prefilled.
- Use Insights for a simple stock overview and recent movements.
- In Settings, restore purchases, open privacy/support links, and (after unlock) export CSV or turn on low-stock reminders.
Frequently asked questions
How do I restore my purchase?
If you bought the unlock and are on a new iPhone or reinstalled the app:
- Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the same Apple Account you used to buy it.
- Open PlainStock, go to Settings, and tap Restore Purchases. The same action is also available from the unlock screen.
Restoring needs an internet connection. It is free; you will not be charged again. The unlock is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
Restoring brings back the unlock only. It does not bring back inventory from another device, because that data was stored on the old device (see below).
What’s free, and what does the unlock add?
Free: up to 20 items and 50 stock movements, with scan in/out and local storage.
The one-time unlock (priced in the App Store, typically $4.99 USD) unlocks unlimited items and movements, low-stock local notifications, and CSV export/import. There are no ads and no subscription.
Where is my data stored?
Only on your iPhone, inside the app (SwiftData on-device). PlainStock has no account and no server, and it doesn’t upload your inventory. Camera frames used for barcode scanning are decoded on-device and are not stored or uploaded. Details are in the privacy policy.
How do low-stock notifications work?
After you unlock and turn the switch on in Settings, PlainStock can schedule a daily local summary of low-stock items on your device. There is no push server. If nothing is low, no notification is sent. You can turn the switch off anytime.
How do I export or import CSV?
With the unlock, open Settings → Export & Import. Export creates CSV files you share through the iOS share sheet. Import lets you choose how to handle conflicts (overwrite, skip, or merge quantities). Spreadsheet apps can open the CSV files.
How do I back up my inventory?
- Keep a file copy: export CSV (requires unlock) and save it to Files or email it to yourself.
- Back up the whole iPhone: an iCloud Backup or a backup to your computer can include PlainStock’s data, and restoring that backup brings the inventory back with it.
PlainStock does not have its own cloud sync, so stock doesn’t move to a new phone unless you restore a device backup or import a CSV you saved.
How do I delete my data?
- One item or movement: delete it inside the app.
- Everything: delete the PlainStock app from your iPhone. Copies inside any device backups stay until those backups are deleted.
Deleting data doesn’t affect your purchase. You can restore it at any time.
Camera permission was denied
You can still enter barcodes manually. To re-enable the camera later, open iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera (or the PlainStock entry in iOS Settings) and allow access.
